Drum Corps International Open Class powerhouse Teal Sound takes the competition field this summer in a unique Brent Becker-design Stanbury Uniform.
This is the second set of Stanbury Uniforms the Florida-based corps has worn. Teal Sound Executive Director Randy Blackburn states "Our corps has more than doubled in size since partnering with Stanbury Uniforms. At every step in our growth the folks at Stanbury have been at our side, ready to help in any way needed.”
This year's new look comes after extensive design work between the Teal Sound staff, Stanbury artist Brent Becker, Stanbury's Becky Still and the entire production team at the company's Missouri headquarters, including a visit to the factory by Mr. Blackburn during the early stages of the process. "We went to all lengths to make sure Teal had the look they desired" states Becky Still.
"The cut of the coat is intended to be a variation on / extension of the Teal diamond emblem" says artist Brent Becker. "The Teal visual staff desired a warm, neutral cream as a dominant color to compliment the teal accents. I also selected materials such as mirrored mylar and a glitter-based lame' to bring out the shine of the corps, be it under stadium lights or in the daytime sun."
A unique component of this uniform is the use of Stanbury's exclusive new fabric "XtremeDri", which has moisture-wicking properties comparable to that of major athletic apparel providers. "The use of XtremeDri made perfect sense for us" claims Blackburn, "being a Florida-based corps that tours the nation in the summer months, this fabric allows for total comfort so our members can perform at their best. Stanbury has a hit with this!"
Stanbury CEO Gary Robert's is proud to have Teal Sound as a partner, "Teal Sound has made a big splash in the marching scene these past few years. That they were ready to take on such a unique design and utilize XtremeDri fabrics simply confirms that their recent progress is no accident. We could not be more proud to have them continue as part of our family of drum corps"
