On New Years Day, the 120th Rose Parade struts down Colorado Boulevard in beautiful Pasadena, California. Stanbury Uniforms is thrilled to be a part of the excitement and is honored to be the chosen uniform provider for some of the finest bands to ever march this storied parade.
Broadcast across the world and over nine television networks including ABC, NBC, HGTV and Telemundo, the Rose Parade is a spectacle of color and sound that is matched by no other parade. Sophomore Jessica Kostecky of Golden Valley High School from Merced, California, a long-time Stanbury client, said she is looking forward to seeing the procession live for the first time. "It is going to be so much better than HDTV!" the flute player said.
Stanbury would like to share our pride and congratulate the following outstanding “Stanbury bands” who have earned the honor to march in the Rose Parade.
The official band of the Tournament of Roses, the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band has been in every Rose Parade since 1930 – and most of those years in Stanbury Uniforms! Led by director Kyle Luck and assisted by Alyson McLemore, Dr. Jim Arnewine and Tad Carpenter, the band is comprised of PCC Lancer Marching Band members and exceptional high school musicians from throughout Southern California. Over six-hundred high school students audition each year for the 200 plus spots in the band and pageantry. As part of the honor band program, the 10 member elite Herald Trumpet Unit has the distinct honor of heralding in the New Year by proceeding the Rose Queen and her Court. The University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band makes its sixth consecutive Rose Parade appearance this year, due to a football powerhouse that has been on a PAC-10 roll for most of this millennium! The most famous college marching band in the nation, Dr. Arthur Bartner’s USC TMB has performed across the globe and on countless Hollywood films, television programs and gold records – and always in Stanbury Uniforms! The Alhambra Unified School District of Alhambra, California had big ambitions a few years back when they created a city-wide marching band: to someday be in the Rose Parade. That day has come, and we couldn’t be more proud that the 200+ member Alhambra Unified School District Band will be doing so in Stanbury Uniforms made just for this event! Comprised of students from the three comprehensive high schools in the district - Mark Keppel, Alhambra, and San Gabriel - the band is led by Carla Bartlett, Tammy Cognetta and Mark Troulson. The website www.AUSDBAND.com tells more about this unique program.
Frank W. Ballou High School Band from Washington D.C. makes its first ever Rose Parade appearance and in a brand-new set of Stanbury Uniforms too! Though new to the Rose Parade, this band is no stranger to the bright lights. The subject of an award winning documentary film and featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and ABC World News, Ballou HS Band is a story that proves the importance of music education in our schools. Led by the charismatic – and Ballou HS alumnus – Darrell Watson and his army of staffers, the band has overcome the challenges of an inner-city environment to uplift their community with music, dedication and personal sacrifice. This high school marching band comes from an impoverished campus just three miles away from the U.S. Capitol building and is not only inspiring, they are truly flat-out entertaining! You’ll most definitely want to check out www.balloumovie.com to learn more about this band.
The Golden Valley Cardinal Regime Marching Band hails from Merced, California and this band is no stranger to the Rose Parade. Led by legendary director Greg Christiansen, the band has been down Colorado Boulevard a time or two. However, it has been a few years, and the return trip is sure to be cherished by this new generation of students. A northern California powerhouse, the Cardinal Regime is a longtime loyal Stanbury band and we are proud to see them in Pasadena once again. A glance at their website, www.GVCardinals.org, proves just how deeply this community gets behind these students!
On behalf of everyone at Stanbury Uniforms, we wish these fine bands all the best and share in their excitement and pride. To our customers across the world, we wish you and your students a happy, safe and prosperous New Year!
