Stanbury recently joined forces with the Western Band Association (WBA) as a primary corporate sponsor.
Created in 1979 by five northern California band directors under the name "Western States Marching Band Circuit" (WSMBC), the association grew exponentially until 2002, when the name "Western Band Association" was adopted. With a mission statement that strives to ensure a high quality performing experience, educationally sound and in full support of the total band program, the WBA is now the only comprehensive, state-wide marching band circuit in California.
Administrative and Judge Coordinator Shirlee Whitcomb says "The WBA is committed to give back to the bands and the students in as many ways as possible. Our 2007 expanded programs are due largely to the generous support of our corporate partners".
With 110 bands currently active in the WBA, the schedule has grown to offer consecutive competitions in each of three regions in California. On any given weekend over 12,000 students will experience the thrill of live performance and competition at a WBA-hosted event. The 2-day Championship weekend will strive to serve the needs of all participating bands, be it the smallest at 34 members, or the largest, checking in at 265 members.
Further, $6,500 in student scholarships will be awarded by the WBA this school year and a bi-annual concert festival is presented under the auspices of the WBA.
Stanbury Regional Manager Patrick Seidling is excited to get behind the association's efforts. "WBA is working hard to serve the entire state - no small task in a state as big as California! - regardless of band size or historic competitiveness. As Stanbury Uniforms stands ready to serve all band's unique needs, be it field, half-time or parade, the fit just makes perfect sense."
Shirlee Whitcomb goes on to say, "The quality provided by this long-time and trusted company fits hand in glove with the quality and trust WBA aspires to provide to the schools who compete at our events. We sincerely thank Stanbury Uniforms for helping us make our student's experience the best it can be."
